Also known as a Current Probe or a Current Clamp, a Clamp Meter is an electrical testing device clamps around an electrical conductor without the need to make physical contact, Clamps Meter is typically used to read the magnitude of alternating current (AC) and, with additional instrumentation, the phase and waveform can also be measured.
The meter will read by dividing the number of turns in the current, sometimes with a loss of accuracy due to inductive effects; the reading provided by a conductor carrying a very low current can be increased by winding the conductor around the clamp several times.
