A Leakage Current Clamp Meter can be used in any electrical installation, just a little bit of the current will pass through the protective ground conductor to the ground. This is called leakage current. 

Leakage current can cause frequent tripping unnecessarily. In severe cases, the voltage will rise on accessible conductive parts.

Higher levels of leakage current may be present in electronic devices when filters are used and can cause spikes in the voltage that disrupt the standards and cause equipment to give false readings.
